Making 2.0 a reality

The Academic Libraries 2.0 YouTube video (Thing 7) was a bit long, and some of it no-brainer material. But, Meredith Farkas always has something interesting to say. My favorite points came later in the video:
  1. across-the-board staff buy-in (explain, train, explain, answer questions)
  2. recognize different learning styles
  3. allow time for staff to learn and then implement and maintain...these technologies need to be integrated and not just added on
  4. make staff members responsible for learning new technologies and sharing knowledge with others
  5. and the best suggestion: have a staff person who is responsible for developing and promoting these applications...there's probably someone already on staff who could do this, and do it well.
What else to do? Well, try to incorporate 2.0 tools into the SLA website better. Use wikis and blogs to offer different types of content. Match up what exists with the tool that works best...not just doing it because everyone else is!
