- across-the-board staff buy-in (explain, train, explain, answer questions)
- recognize different learning styles
- allow time for staff to learn and then implement and maintain...these technologies need to be integrated and not just added on
- make staff members responsible for learning new technologies and sharing knowledge with others
- and the best suggestion: have a staff person who is responsible for developing and promoting these applications...there's probably someone already on staff who could do this, and do it well.

Making 2.0 a reality
The Academic Libraries 2.0 YouTube video (Thing 7) was a bit long, and some of it no-brainer material. But, Meredith Farkas always has something interesting to say. My favorite points came later in the video:
Technorati glitterati
I've used Technorati (Thing 6) before, but reading Mary Ellen Bates's InfoTip on Technorati was certainly helpful. As she points out, many blogs do not have a search feature, so I now know I can use Technorati to search the content of a single blog, just like you can use Google advanced search to search one website by entering the site's URL under the "need more tools?" section.
Her tip about finding subject experts among the trillions of bloggers is also important.

It's delicious
The short video from Common Craft used math topics to show how delicious (Thing 5) works and can be shared. This is a perfect example to send to David, my math teacher husband. He may want to use delicious to share links with his students and the other math teachers at his school.
I can use delicious to share finds with SLA members. Items that I include in Info Sites in Information Outlook and "Worth a Click" posts on the Information Center's blog can also be added to an open delicious account. Good idea.
I should also create an account for my own "bookmarks." This way, I can access them no matter which browser I'm using (lately I'm partial to Firefox) or where I am.

The quick brown fox...
jumped over the lazy dogs.
We've moved beyond typewriters and carbon paper to becoming part of larger communities with blogs and other Web 2.0 tools. What will they think of next?
